Don't you just love Autumn?

The first day of Fall was September 22nd but to me, the beginning of October will always be the beginning of Fall. September was the end of Summer, the beginning of school. October brings crisp air and beautiful foliage. Or at least, it did when I was growing up. In Washington the Fall brings rain and gray skies. In New Hampshire it is gorgeous! People travel from all over the country to see what I had right in my front yard. Living here in Washington I may no longer have that, but to me it is still what Autumn is all about.

I love the smell of Fall - there is a change in the air and I love it. I so prefer the cold months. Summer is alright, but for me there is something so comforting about Fall and Winter! It's no wonder I miss New England, though Aaron has heard too many stories about the snow to ever want to move there.

And so, in the spirit of Autumn, here are some fun decorating ideas. I never decorate my house - I put up a tree at Christmas, and that's about it. I've decided to change that - I love decorating, I just always feel as though I don't have the extra time. I'm going to find the time though, especially after looking at these pictures - some of them are so simple!

How easy is this?

I love the pine cones, so simple and so pretty

A mixture of pine cones and tiny sprigs in glass balls - so sweet!

I love the apples - apple picking holds so many childhood memories for me!

This is such a cute little pumpkin, and I love the use as a vase. Just use a bit of wet floral foam and your flowers will stay fresh!

I can't resist beautiful leaves

A simple centerpiece

A pumpkin made from flowers, I love the creativity. Again just use some wet floral foam in the shape of a sphere and show it off on a cake stand!

  2. I think for the most part that I love each season individually, but I do really love fall! I miss apple picking in NH in the cold crisp air:) Jonathon and I have talked about New Hampshire as well... but the winters are daunting! Although, I'm looking at gray clouds, listening to pouring rain...and looking forward to flooding:( Thanks for the fall perk up of fantastic colors!!

  3. love these ideas...ok that pumpkin is not cute..he's scary!! I think this fall will be a spectacular event here. I've noticed that some of my maples are unusually bright..maybe because of our warm summer. We will have to wait and see but keep your fingers crossed. You are right about fall in New England, there is truly nothing like it, you have to see it to believe it huh? Someday we should go back together I would love to see where you used to live, maybe we will bring Aaron, maybe not, tee hee
