christmas sugar cookies

Last week I was laid off from my job (you'd think I would have time to blog more... but apparently not), and so money for Christmas is a bit tighter this year. I decided to put together some Christmas goodies to give out and here is the first thing I made: sugar cookies, of course! My husband was skeptical when I said I was going to make cookies to give away to people... but he amended that after he saw the finished product! I love making sugar cookies, but they can be time consuming and I don't usually have an excuse to do this much baking.

The icing is just royal icing, I've tried several recipes (they are all pretty close to the same thing, with only minor variations) and my favorite recipe is the one from Sweetopia, definitely worth trying!

Oh, and if you are wanting to give this a try yourself, a good place to

Merry Almost Christmas everyone!

  2. Holy crap these look awesome! We were lazy and only left a piece of cake for Santa this year, but maybe I'll make these tonight with the kids. How did you get just that little bit of sprinkles on the cookies on certain areas without them going all over the place?

  3. Boy,I am totally embarrassed about my last post on my blog. Your cookies look like something out of a dreamy bakery. I will definitely try the royal icing. Thank you I enjoyed my visit today.
