Day 12. Favorite animal

I've always been an animal lover in general... but I have always loved dogs. Dogs are amazing - they are so smart, and so much fun! I never really had any pets growing up because of so many animal allergies in my family. After Aaron and I were married for a couple years we decided we wanted a dog... but what breed? I love dogs but  was never partial to any one specific breed. Well about that time Aaron had met his friend's dog named Elvis - a Boston Terrier. He raved about this breed to me... but I was sceptical. First off, to be honest I'd never even heard of Boston Terriers... and then he showed me a few pictures that did not convince me (some Bostons can be really ugly... in that "so ugly I'm cute" kind of way, but still...). So he showed me information about the breed... ok they are supposed to be really fun and energetic, they are usually really good with kids... they aren't particularly bad for allergies... there were definitely some things that piqued my interest. And then the clincher... he was trying to describe to me the way that they play and how their personalities are and I just wasn't really getting it I think, so he opened up YouTube and did a search for Boston Terrier... and oh my gosh I was convinced. This breed is too funny! They are just little clowns, and so loving on top of it! I couldn't stop watchin the videos... and after watching what seemed like every video on YouTube with a Boston Terrier, I was all for it!

And then we were blessed with this crazy girl:

Our Facey Face. Yes, that's actually what we call her. Her name is technically Violet, but we learned something new about the breed after adopting her - deafness can be fairly common for Bostons. Good breeding practices usually eliminate that, but our Face didn't come from a good breeder (which we learned later on... but that's another story). She is absolutely 100% deaf, we even had her BAER tested... so it's official. While her name is Violet, we always tell people they can call her whatever they want. She was nicknamed The Face, or Facey after a very difficult puppyhood and a long string of nicknames such as "Monkeyface" and "Buttface". That's our girl.

But that's not enough adorableness for one post - if you are not convinced of the cuteness that is the Boston Terrier based solely on our sometimes wonky looking little girl, here is some more for you:

These days, I would have to definitely say that the Boston Terrier is my favorite animal
